Embracing the Winter Glow: Your guide to staying positive through the chilly months.

As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop its normal to feel a bit lethargic and unmotivated. The gloom and grey can cast a shadow on our moods, but there is a secret to thriving and surviving through the winter months… it’s all about perspective. By changing our attitude and our mindset around winter we can help keep our spirits bright all season long.

Step One: Embrace the cozy comfort of winter.

One of the most enchanting parts of winter is the opportunity to snuggle in and enjoy all the fuzzy comforts it offers. Instead of resenting the chill, indulge in it. Make time to get cozy on the couch with some hot chocolate and giant blanket. Find a new book or maybe try a puzzle! Find a warm sanctuary within your home and embrace the hygge lifestyle.

Step Two: Connect with nature’s beauty.

Winter may strip the land of its natural greenery, but replaces it with the unique and ethereal beauty of snow. Take in the glistening frost on the trees, the snow-covered hills and the crisp fresh air. Find peace on a winter walk or just take time to appreciate instead of dread.

Step Three: Practice mindfulness and gratitude.

Nurturing a positive mindset during these cold months can be even more challenging than normal. Take time to reflect daily on what you are grateful for, and what you do enjoy about the winter season. Practice yoga, add breathwork to your routine or maybe take up a new hobby that you enjoy doing indoors. Winter doesn’t have to be a season to disconnect, make it a season to dive in to the cozy comforts of self-care and new goals. Embrace the beauty that is nature throughout every stage of the year just like we try to appreciate our own selves throughout our journey. Remember, the key to staying positive throughout the winter months is to make the most of what the season has to offer and finding joy in the middle of its frosty charm. According to the National Institute of Mental Health many people go through periods of time where they feel down and not like their usual selves; and it can have a direct correlation to the seasonal change and amount of daylight.
